Canada Skateboard National Open at CJ’s in Toronto this March 5th and 6th – who will be there?
Canada Skateboard is holding the National Open competition March 5th and 6th at CJs skatepark in Toronto. Looks like there should be some dope skaters showing up.
Now I honestly can’t be bothered to figure out the points / competition system for going to the Olympics, but I’m quite sure that if you want to represent Canada at the Olympics and you are from the Greater Toronto Area you probably want to show up.
If you aren’t pursuing nationalistic glory, then maybe you still want to show up and see some Canucks throw down.
Who can enter the national competition?
As far as I can tell anyone can enter. You just gotta fill out this form and decide what category: street or park. Then just show up and skate. Just make sure you skate better than the other people or you will lose.
Who is skating in the Canada Skateboard National Open ?
Well, it looks like I can confirm two entries via instagram. I saw that Toronto skater Anthony Gebski will be skating and as a CJs regular he has an advantage. Here is his latest post, from where else but CJs.
You can also count on seeing Nathaniel Dean there who confirmed via instagram he signed up for the great Canada Skateboard National Open. Here’s his last edit from CJs.
I’m guessing you will see a lot more locals entering and I’d be very surprised if local ripper Fay Ebert, who at 10 years old will probably put everyone in their place, didn’t show up. Especially at her home park. Take a look for yourself.
I hope that we see 3 more skaters there as well. Stafhon Boca would definitely give others a run for their money as well as Gianni Giarizzo who rips up the park on the regular. Not to mention Cody Beaudry who should be able to keep up with the crowd and then some. Here are some of their clips from CJs.
Well, to be honest except for the first two, it’s all speculation at this point. But one has to wonder if one of Toronto’s best, Jayden Bono will show up? According to his instagram account it looks like he’s been tearing it up in Cali, so who knows…
And what about Wade Desarmo and the whole skate loft crew? Are they showing up… Is Bobby Dekeyzer or any other pros gonna show up? Damn there are a lot of sick skaters in Toronto!

In conclusion
When you really think about it though… While all this hoopla is going down at CJs and if it’s still cold and generally s**t weather outside… then on march 5th and 6th, the smart move might be to head over to the east side and have a peaceful session at the skate loft ! You heard it here first!
